Start with what you want to change.
You may be replacing a worn countertop, planning an island or fitting new stone around cabinets you want to keep. Record your project ZIP, which pieces are changing and whether you need measurement, fabrication, delivery and installation.
Use the details you already have.
Write down the material you like. “Still deciding” is useful too. Add rough dimensions with units, corners, visible edges and sink or cooktop positions. Mark your sketch as preliminary so the final measurements can be checked before fabrication.
Include the sink model when you know it. Note any removal, plumbing or backsplash work. If cabinets are changing, add what needs to happen first.
See what belongs in your quote.
- Material, fabrication and finished edges
- Sink and cooktop cutouts
- Measurement, delivery and installation
- Removal, disposal and plumbing responsibilities
- Supports, backsplash work and taxes
Each item needs an included, excluded or pending status and a named responsible person. Keep questions about seams, stone direction, edges and fixture details beside the sketch.
Check the dates that matter.
Record when you want the countertop finished and any work that depends on it. Measurement and installation dates need confirmation before you treat them as booked.
